Allison Chinchar works as a forecaster of weather for CNN as well as HLN. She's a frequent guest presenter on CNN's New Day Weekend and HLN's Weekend Express, as well CNN International. The station meteorologist was employed as meteorologist for local stations on the air in Atlanta, Nashville and Chattanooga prior to becoming a part of CNN. She's reported on flooding, wildfires and hurricanes as well as snowstorms. In 2019, she was nominated for the Emmy award for covering Hurricane Dorian from the Bahamas. The coverage she provided of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, in which over 350 tornadoes occurred in the Southeastern United States over a time period of four days, 200 tornadoes that occurred on the 27th of April was also nominated for an Emmy. Her work as an environmental researcher allowed her to cover stories concerning climate change, as well as natural disasters such volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and more. Chinchar holds a Bachelor's degree of Atmospheric Science, which she obtained from The Ohio State University. Chinchar is also a member of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society as well as the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
