Lucy Liu (born Lucy Liu) is an American actor, voice actress as well as a director producer and singer. She is an attractive, skilled actress that has inspired many Asian actors to make it in Hollywood. After a series of appearances in popular TV series her name was a household name when she was cast as a character in Ally McBeal legal comedy where she played Ling Woo. In the wake of a rapid rise in fame, the actress was offered roles on major screens including Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. Then she gave a stunning performance as Japanese criminal O-Ren Ishii in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. In the meanwhile, she also played the lead role in a few films that failed at the box office, such as Rise: Blood Hunter. Then she began voicing the characters of animated films like Kung Fu Panda or Tinker Bell. Mia Mason, in Cashmere Mafia and other small screen parts, did not achieve much success. Southland's highly praised police show, Southland and a recurring part in the show helped Liu establish herself as an established actress. Liu selects her roles carefully to avoid becoming typecast in the highly competitive field. Liu is a gifted artist who has not been limited by her race.
